What is Knowledge Translation?

Knowledge Translation is defined as a dynamic and iterative process that includes synthesis, dissemination, exchange and ethically-sound application of knowledge to improve the health of Canadians, provide more effective health services and products and strengthen the health care system.

Elements of Knowledge Translation

Synthesis referes to the summization of research findings in the form of a scoping review, systematic review, and meta-analyses.
Synthesis
Interaction between decision-makers and researchers through planning, producing, disseminating, and applying existing or new research in decision-making
Exchange
Dissemination of tailored messages such as educational sessions with patients and knowledge users in developing implementation plan, tools, and media engagement.
Dissemination
Knowledge translation activities that are consistent with ethical principles and norms, social values, and regulatory frameworks.
