– There are many adverse effects of Covid-19 pandemic on agriculture and rural livelihoods.
– For one, the spread of the disease can contaminate crops with pathogenic microorganisms, leading to crop loss.
– Infected animals can also cause foodborne diseases that can affect humans.
– The economic situation of farmers and rural communities is also likely to be affected as a result of the pandemic.
This study used the directional stratified convenient sampling to select the local residents in eastern, central, and western China. Based on the covid-2019 prevalence in 1 April 2020, two provinces with more cases and one province with less cases were selected in each region. As the figure 1. Hubei, Hunan and Shanxi provinces were selected from Central China. Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces were selected from eastern China. Due to the residents’ local conditions and customs in Sichuan and Chongqin were similar, so we just selected one of the two provinces with comparatively higher prevalence in western China. Sichuan and Gansu provinces were included. Based on the city’s comprehensive influence in the provinces, the provincial capital city and another city were purposely selected from each selected province. In each city, 60 households were directional selected from each of the rural and urban families, all of the residents aged over 10 years in families were included this survey. Totally, 7118 residents from 1920 households in 8 provinces (16 cities) were designed to include in this investigation. Due to the lower responsiveness of residents in Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, only half of the total households (Hangzhou and Jinhua in Zhejiang province, Guangzhou and the Pearl River delta in Guangdong province) attended this investigation, so we combined together to analysis.
The study was conducted in April 2020 through an online survey, with participants in 8 provinces in Eastern, Central, and Western China.
